Location
International travelers like us can't reach New York exactly one or two hours befor the check-in time (03:00 pm). We reached the jfk at 06:00 pm and we had to wait in the airport until 02:00 pm with the huge lugguage, as the management of the Herald Square Hotel can't accept us until the check-in time 03:00 pm. To my surprise, the "New Queens Deluxe Room" was very small (contrary to what they have advertised on www.bookings.com) and they were not able to give us a bigger room or provide us with an extra cot (even for extra cost) as it was mentioned at the time of booking. We were three and we had to adjust in a small room) And above all, the receptionist behaved little rude at the time of check-in and the staff are not at all helpful.

The position of this hotel is excellent for you to explore new york, with all the obvious must see sights within walking distance.some of the rooms are small however they are very clean and the bed very comfy.
The only downside is that some of the rooms don`t have an outside view and are on the compact size.

We really like the location, it was the best. Also we love the comfort of the room.
We had a problem with an employee named Rick. He showed lack of interest to solve a problem that the hotel caused us. They reserved us a shuttle to Newark, no to JFK as we asked for.

Excellent location.
Some noice coming from outside. Some staff was not willing to extend our stay for 30 minutes (check out is 12:00 noon), I finally finally a receptionist that gladly accepted. They have good facility for transport to JFK for $65.

The breakfast was lovely and free and offered plenty of items. The location offered was marvellous and stunning so close to the theatre district, midtown area and lower Manhatten, and the high line.

Location
Outside, lobby and overall attention was not great. Asked for plumbing in bath to be checked every day I was there and nothing happened.

Excellent location, withing in easy walking distance to subway links. Plenty of eating establishments in local area. We found the room to be modern, fresh and clean, which we were told had all recently been refurbished. Room was cleaned daily, contained a safe, hairdryer, lovely rain-head shower, iron and ironing board. Bed linen/quilt was clean and white, and bed was very comfortable. They have a locker room for suitcases for when you are checking out and have a late flight time. Coffee/tea/chocolate machine in lobby seating area was very welcome which is available from 7-10am then 3-7pm. We would definitely stay here again. Just need to take into account all the local taxes (Local tax and occupancy tax) added to the room rate, which is normal for New York.
As soon as we arrived we thought omg, as the reception area didn't look very inviting, so we worried about the room. It was soon evident that we didn't have to worry. The room was excellent. We later spoke to the Hotel Manager, he stated that the hotel is going through a total refurbishment and the lobby/reception was left till last.

Charming stay with a comfy bed!
Our room was clean and spacious, loved the comfy bed! The front desk staff were super friendly. Only issue was the walls are pretty thin. We heard our neighbors late at night. Plus, the lobby was kinda dull with no bar. But overall, great restaurants nearby to eat at.
